Dharma Talk by Sheila Chang he’ Sussman – January 13, 2026

Sheila Chang he’ Sussman took refuge with Ch’an Master Sheng Yen in 2003. She has practiced in several Buddhist traditions over the years:

  • Sri Lankan and Thai Theravada traditions,
  • White Plum Asangha (Taizan Maezumi Roshi tradition),
  • Myoshin-ji Tradition (Kyozan Joshu Sasaki),
  • Plum Village Tradition (Thich Nhat Hanh),
  • and more recently Matsuoka-Roshi tradition (STO, Sensei Sangaku Dan Joslyn, FSZS).

On Tuesday January 13th, Chang he’ will share her experience and invite discussion on the historical and cultural context of the Sutra and it’s current significance, as per Sensei’s November 3rd, 2025 call to read the sutra many times, placing it in historical and cultural context, and allowing experiences or a non-judgmental approach.
