Over the years I have written poems, read about poetry, read poetry, and pondered poetry. On several occasions it has been the source of my Dharma notes and talks. Thanks to Matt-san, our new website (fszs.org) has the ability to search over four hundred of my writings.
I think this may be a good time to try this feature…so click on our website above, go to Teachings under Dharma Notes and click, and then in the upper right corner you will see the search icon: enter POEMS and a list will appear, then search for B.Y.O.P. and see what shows up. Use these as source notes for our discussion.
Tuesday night April 15, 2025 I ask that you bring a poem of your choice, written by you or someone else, that is a peek into your practice. We will explore these as Sutra and/or Koan as a way of conveying experience. Our quest is to convey meaning one to another and sometimes something “Clicks.” Let’s look for clicks.
Below is my poem with which to practice. We’ll post each poem in chat as you read it and we follow along. This will give us 4-5 minutes a piece to read and discuss each poem. With the time left we can compare and explore new avenues that arose, and finally I’ll ask, “How have these readings affected your practice?”
